Find out more about our history.

The TAG has been working since (1997), we were formally set up in July 1998 to improve the well-being of tenants and residents on the Teviot Estate. The project was initially developed by Chrissie Townsend, a local resident who was concerned at the lack of involvement of local people around regeneration issues. Its purpose is to lobby for and protect residents interests, organise and put in place initiative that will improve their lives.

Become a volunteer!

Volunteering and Community Involvement Project

Particularly enabling vulnerable and isolated adults with special needs to take part in volunteering.  Mentoring project for youth working with children and enterprise. 

Internet café, Community café,  Hairdressers, Admin Office, all enterprise and work experience are managed by volunteers. 

Community Support

The TAG Kids Club and Breakfast Club have the support of the local community. In the first instance, we are a community-based charity organisation run by the tenants and residents of the Teviot Estate. All of the current provision is oversubscribed and parents ask us for spaces on our summer play scheme and after-school club. We have a waiting list of children …

Vocational Training

We run three community enterprises which teach local residents new skills and qualifications. These are the Hairdressing and Beauty academy the cafeteria and the education club …
